Become a better you

Become a better you

We were made for a reason. Not just to survive in a world built on survival but to become a part of the creation process. To add value to our world in order to make it better for the next man, woman and child. For the next generation to come. We have been told to study this and study that, to live for excellence and success but we have also been pushed to lose value of integrity, diligence and honesty in the process. There is no gain where there is loss of identity and reason. If your life is simply about the things that you have been told matter then what kind of life do you really have? I met a man recently who had found what he wanted to do with his life here on earth and how he wanted to touch lives and interact with people. The problem was that people didn’t see that they required his services so he joined up with other people in the same field of work to create more impact. Strangely, instead of contributory progress, it became more about individual pursuits and selfish ambitious desires, leading this man to ask many questions. One of which was “Why?”
I have come to realize that we are all gifted in one way or another to reach out to our fellow man, to provide one form of service or the other, to share a smile, a hug, laughter and love but the world we live in is not setup with those kind of laws and rules. What was once good has been laboratized and turned into a science of only the strong survive. While this is true, there is a reason for this perceived madness in nature. Motion, progress, growth, discovery. Whereas in human life, because reason exists among us, it was meant to be that we abide, prosper, multiply and have dominion over the earth. What we have come to love and live is not the way of truth. Yes, we have human factions: a group of friends, people, community and category types, but we are all human, different in our own unique ways. One to another.
Think about this, if there already are problems in the world, problems that you identify and recognize, problems that you wish were not there. Why do you become a part of the problem to another human life? Why would your life take away from someone else’s as opposed to creating value and making them better off for coming in contact with you? Is it possible that in our journey, our journey through life, passed down from one generation to the next, we have been taught a great evil, an evil that has become a part of the formation of the current generation and one that continues to strive strong in the hearts of many?! I know that I cannot change the world alone or do some catastrophic good that will save mankind; that has already been done on the cross. But as I have also come to learn, good is a choice, love is a choice and life is a blessing. To see the beauty in all of God’s creations. To love and live honestly, to give sacrificially and to believe in a world to come where all is well.

As you leave this write and go back to your life, I hope that I have been able to surge you with enough reason to find the warmth in your heart, the truth in your life and the gift you were born to share. Not just for the profit it may or may not bring, but for the message to all of those who come in contact with you. Stay blessed.

A Christian in Power

A Christian in Power

As Christians, what do we command? It is often misunderstood that power corrupts absolutely in all situations and at all times. As Christians, we should know better, being that our father in Heaven is all powerful, all knowing, all loving, all seeing, all in all and creator of the entire universe. And yet, he is full of love, compassion, forgiveness, sacrifice, concern for His children and everything that is good. Being Children of this wonderful creator, we should exhibit power in the same manner and form that He does, choosing what is right over what is wrong, loving mercy and showing justice in all situations, being humble enough to accept our wrong, making it right and exhibiting peace in all situations and circumstances.
Today’s world is very full of the wrong kind of understanding of power, although being an age old vessel tending towards corruption, power is more in the ability to choose right over wrong, than it is in the choice of wrong over right. The force of good has always been the tougher call in a world of evil consistency. As we have all seen in various parts of our lives and the people around us, being in authority usually seems to change a person from a nature of humility to one of pride simply by the addition of power, authority, wealth or one form of dominion or the other even in the hierarchy of the Church. I guess a question there-in could be, Why? Why does man seek to be in command of everything they understand and even things they do not? Why does a simple man, humble in all his ways, achieve some sort of wealth or authority and become an entirely new man? Why is it difficult to remain the same once we have achieved some sort of notable stride in this world? I guess the obvious answer is found in the Bible; where your treasure is, there will your heart be also, Matthew 6: 12.

A man or woman who truly loves God, will walk the walk of life in a very different way than the rest of the world. They would seek only to do as God commands through Jesus Christ, always listening to the Holy Spirit in everything they do and when a situation seems too hard to understand, they will take it to God in prayer, knowing that the prayer of a righteous man avails much. The thing to understand is simply this, treasure on earth can be in a variety of forms and sometimes they are not really bad things to desire or want, power included because a person could desire power in order to effect positive changes in society to the benefit of all. The problem lies in the place where the first obligation to a person’s life is not the will of God and not the ways of His difference from the ways of this sinful world. No matter how kind, nice and warm an ungodly man is, he is bound to makes choices based on one form of bias or another, to seek to do a thing to the best of his understanding regardless of how it affects others or the consequences there-in. Let us therefore be aware who we are, what we stand for and why, so that be it that we are in a position of authority and power, we are just that: A Christian in authority and power and not another power drunken and driven individual seeking a selfish goal regardless of who or what he or she has to step over in order to achieve it.
